Dice City Games Presents: Legacy 7K Rumble Against Cancer

Event Information

PRE-REGISTRATION: Registration and Payment via Eventbrite is required for this event. The entry fee of $`125* (+ eventbrite fees) will be primarily used to cover venue reservation costs, participant taco bar lunch, special guests' fees, staff/overhead, streaming production costs, and a prize pool including $1K in cash and $6K+ in prizes. Additionally, a portion of each entry will go to charities supporting individuals battling cancer. The entry fee is non-refundable.

FORMAT & TOURNAMENT STRUCTURE: This is a Competitive REL Legacy tournament. Swiss rounds will scale with attendance and cut to a Top 8. Tournament Organizers, a Head Judge, and other judge staff will be on-site to run a smooth event. However, we expect the Top 8 to run into the night.

Doors open at Noon. Players' Meeting will start around 1:00 PM. There will be no early entry due to Brewery hours and set-up requirements.

DECKLISTS: are required, should be submitted in advance and will be due at the start of round 1.

CARDS ALLOWED: This tournament will be sanctioned and decks must consist solely of Wizards of the Coast-printed tournament-legal cards that are sleeve-playable. If you have any questions about specific artistically-altered cards being allowed, please email us at least one week in advance and expect to review the card in-person with the head judge at or before the show. No proxies, counterfeits, or "play-test cards" are permitted.

THE VENUE & SETTING: The Legacy Rumble against Cancer will be held at Silver Branch Brewery in the heart of Silver Spring, MD -- Washington, D.C.'s favorite neighbor; just a few minutes from the district line, and 2-3 blocks from the Sheraton, Double Tree, Hyatt, and Marriott hotels. Silver Branch is immediately adjacent to the Silver Spring Train Station on the DC Metro's Redline, and near multiple public parking garages, including the Cameron Street Garage.

FOOD, AND DRINK: Silver Branch's beautiful space features ample in-house brewed beers, a full bar, and a good kitchen. For this event a special meal will be provided to all entrants: a full Taco Bar with delicious ominvore, carnivore, vegan, and vegetarian options! This is included in your ticket price and non-refundable. Beverages may be ordered at the bar.

Prizing

PRIZES & FUNDRAISING RAFFLE / AUCTIONS

This is event features prizes primarily in store credit at Dice City Games, which scale with attendance. At 100 players we are giving out $7K in prizes. 1st place is a guaranteed $1K cash prize, and we do expect this event to sell out. Additionally, 1st and 2nd place will win bonus invitations to the DMV Legacy League's 2024 invitational, where there is a chance to win more cash prizes!

Additionally your hosts Dice City Games, (DCG Founder/Owner and T.O.) Jimmy Cooney, and Jarvis Yu will be donating items from their personal vaults to be silent-auctioned during the event, and raffle tickets will be sold for special raffle items as well. 100% of the auction and raffle proceeds will go to benefit our charity partners. Camp Mak-A-Dream empowers cancer survivors and their families to live with and beyond cancer through life-changing outdoor experiences where they strengthen life skills, gain resilience and develop lasting relationships.

STREAMING & PHOTOGRAPHY: We are excited to stream this event live on Twitch! Jimmy and Jarvis will be joined by format aficionados and magic pros Ari Lax and Mike Noble on commentary. A special thank you to our friends at at the DMV Legacy league and The Legacy Pit for technical support.

We will eventually display video from the event on Youtube as well. DCG staff will be photographing the event for posterity and social media. By attending you consent to have your name, likeness, deck list, etc. recorded for this content; however we will not tag photographs of anyone without explicit consent.

Additional Information

MANAGING EXPECTATIONS: Please note that this event has some "at your own risk" elements. This is a not being held in a large convention center event hall with a huge staff of judges, production assistants and security on hand. Rather this is a private event held primarly in the back event room -- and literlal core of an area brewery -- staffed by additional DCG employees while the shop is also open a few miles away. The play area is really cool, but expect some elbow-to-elbow play in an environment with some opponents imbibing of available alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. If you are concerned about a drink on the table, please politely say something to your opponent. We advise the classic move of keeping your bag under the table and consuming your beverage between rounds or where you can see it so it doesn't get spilled. There are prizes on the line but we aim for this event to have a spirit of camarderie and charity. Thank you in advance for understanding.
