Registration/Location:

  • The tournament entry fee will be $40. This can be paid at time of registration via PayPal or you may defer payment to any time before event day and pay with cash or a debit/credit card on the day of the event.
  • A maximum of 32 players will be permitted to register for the tournament. We will be taking an alternate list after the tournament fills up, in case of unexpected drops.
  • Doors open at 9am, rules briefing begins at 9:45am and tournament rounds start at 10am sharp. The tournament will run from 10am-6pm (or until we're done).
  • You must pre-register for this event using the Register button at the top of this page. Please don't leave this to the last minute as we use this info to properly prepare for the event. By registering, you are committing to come to the event; please don't register until you are sure you can attend, as this may prevent others from registering.
  • Registration requires you to have a TopDeck.gg account. If you don't have a TopDeck.gg account, you can create one for free via the Register link. After registering, this event will appear in the My Events section of your TopDeck.gg profile. Please make sure to supply your first and last name when registering as we have many folks with similar names.
  • After registering for the event, you will be required to submit a decklist URL from Moxfield.com that details the single 60-card Pauper-format deck and optional 15-card sideboard you intend to use in the tournament. Please make sure you set your deck viewing permissions to either "Public" or "Unlisted" on Moxfield to allow the system to properly import your deck. To submit your decklist URL, find this event in your TopDeck.gg "My Events" section, then click the "Submit Decklist" button on the event and paste in the URL to your Moxfield-based deck. Your decklist info will be kept private until the event completes. If you do not supply a decklist before 9am on game day, you will not be permitted to participate. You may update the contents of your decklist until 9am on the day of the event, at which point your decklist will be locked and further changes will not be permitted.
  • Free parking is available at the hotel (no permit required). To get to the hotel, take Highway 99 northbound and exit at Garibaldi Way. Turn left on Tantalus Road and follow the road until you see the sign on the right for the Executive Suites Hotel. Please park in the lots to the left or right of the main driveway.
  • The event will be hosted in the Garibaldi Room on the 2nd floor of the hotel. To get there, walk through the main lobby past the front desk and take the elevators on your left to the 2nd floor. Exit the elevators and turn right to reach the Garibaldi Room, just down the hall.
  • There is an on-site restaurant (Free Bird) and snack machines you may take advantage of for food/beverage. No alcoholic beverages are permitted in the tournament area.
  • We will also have a few extra tables available for any others (fans, friends etc.) that wants to play their own casual side games.
  • Singles, sleeves and booster packs will be available for sale at our onsite pop-up shop. If you wish to order items in advance and have them ready for pickup at the event, please place your order at https://seatoskytcg.com by Friday, May 29th and select "Local Pickup in Squamish" as your shipping option.

Format/Rules:

  • All participants will likely be playing 4 Swiss-style rounds, followed by a cut to the top 8 players. We'll then proceed with single elimination best-of-3 rounds to determine the overall tournament winner. Note that the number of rounds and top cut may change based on the number of registered participants.
  • Rounds will be best-of-3 games with a time cap of 50 minutes per round.
  • All participants will be randomly assigned initial seating in 2-person matchups at the start of the event. In subsequent rounds, matchups will be generated based on accumulated stats. If there are an uneven number of participants, a "bye" will be awarded to a designated individual each round.
  • Use of the TopDeck.gg mobile app is highly recommended to help track matchups, report match results and see current rankings of participants.
  • Once seated at their matchup, players may shuffle/cut their decks, resolve mulligans and draw their starting hand but round play should not be started until the tournament director starts the round timer.
  • 3 points will be awarded to the winner of a game. If the round timer expires and a game isn't complete, the game will begin a 5-turn clock with the current player's turn being turn 0 and next player's turn being turn 1. If the game still hasn't resolved after the 5th turn, the game will be declared a draw and both players in the game will be given 1 point.
  • If you leave your assigned matchup during a game (and haven't been eliminated already), you will be assigned a "game loss" penalty and receive no points for that game, regardless of the outcome.
  • When a match completes, please report the result immediately via the TopDeck.gg app or to the tournament director.
  • No outside resources (e.g. phones, cheat-sheets) are allowed to be used in-game. Players will be permitted to start each round with a piece of blank paper (or erasable "boogie board") and pencil/pen for making notes. These notes do not need to be revealed to other players, though a judge may request to review them at any time.

Deck Construction:

  • An unlimited number of proxy cards are permitted in your deck. If you decide to use proxy cards, please make sure they are complete with all original card details, legible by your opponents and otherwise indistinguishable from a regular Magic card. You may want to take advantage of the group proxy card purchases we regularly make from a professional card printing company; see our community Discord server's #ordering-cards channel for details.
  • Please try to bring any token cards your deck may require as this helps avoid confusion during play. Moxfield can easily tell you which tokens are needed within their deck construction interface. If you are missing tokens, you may find them on our store website at https://seatoskytcg.com/collections/mtg-tokens
  • Your deck must be sleeved for the event and should all be sleeved the same (i.e. if you double-sleeve one card, you must double-sleeve all cards in the deck). Sleeves will be available for purchase at the event, if required.
  • All decks must adhere to current Pauper format guidelines (https://magic.wizards.com/en/formats/pauper) and may not include any banned cards, as outlined here (https://magic.wizards.com/en/banned-restricted-list#Pauper-banned).

Prizes:

  • Prizes will be awarded at the end of the night, once all rounds are complete.

  • The top 8 finishers will all be awarded a prioritized pick from a prize table of various singles and sealed product, in order of finishing rank.

  • In addition, the top 8 finishers will be awarded store credit for SeaToSky TCG as follows: 1st place = $300 store credit 2nd place = $200 store credit 3rd place = $150 store credit 4th place = $100 store credit 5th place = $90 store credit 6th place = $80 store credit 7th place = $70 store credit 8th place = $60 store credit

  • There will also be some random door prizes awarded during the event.
