The Boring Stuff You Need to Read Proxies Are Allowed for This Event

Up to 100 registered proxies are allowed for this event.

Proxies must be printed cards with recognizable artwork and legible text that matches the current Oracle text, or copies of previously printed cards. Dimensions must match a standard Magic card (2.5" × 3.5"). Any alternative artwork must be family-friendly.

The judge has final authority on event day and may perform deck checks as necessary to ensure proxies are indistinguishable from other cards in your deck.

Life Totals and Note-Taking

We recommend bringing a pen and paper, a manual life counter, or a Boogie Board to track important game actions and life totals. Electronic counters may fail or be disallowed, and dice are strictly prohibited for tracking life totals.

Please note that any visible paper used during a match may only contain notes from that match. Decklists and similar materials may not be referenced during play.

General Rules

Please be kind and courteous to all players. Be patient with judges and event organizers, and understand that competitive tournament play is held to a higher standard than casual Commander.

"Take-backs" are generally not allowed. Game actions must be taken promptly, and players must make every reasonable effort to maintain an accurate game state.

Unless specifically permitted by a judge, required due to a health condition, or necessitated by other exceptional circumstances, electronic devices (including cell phones and tablets) may not be used during games except for life tracking.

Tournament Structure

Depending on attendance, there will be five rounds of Swiss pairings followed by a cut to the Top X. The winners of the four Top X pods will advance to the Final Round. (The cut to top X will be determend, day of the event, based on attendence)

Swiss scoring will be as follows:

Win: 5 points Draw: 1 point for each player in the pod Loss: 0 points

“Swiss rounds will be 80 minutes long, with small extensions granted for restroom breaks, etc per judges authorization. If this is a top cut or finals match, the timer will be extended to 100 minutes in round, with 20 minutes over time.At the end of time in the round, the active player will receive 20 minutes to finish their turn. Once the 20 minutes has ended, the game is immediately called a draw, and no other actions may be taken at this time.”

“This is not to interpret that a player may try to force a player to physically articulate every permutation of a deterministic infinite loop to run out the time clock. Non-deterministic loops may still necessitate playing out. A judge may be called to ensure no “slow play” is happening at any time, and ensure the prompt resolution of the stack. Violations of slow play may incur warnings, penalties, or disqualifications if the issue persists.

“If no winner has been determined at 20 minutes beyond time, or by the end of that player’s turn, the match will result in a draw in Swiss. If this is a top cut round, the winner will default to the highest ranked player in Swiss, with tie breakers being based on opponent win rate.”

A judge may be called at any time to address slow play concerns and ensure the prompt resolution of game actions and the stack.

Top Cut and Final Round matches have no time limits.

Byes will be avoided whenever possible. Three-player pods are not preferred but may be used in place of byes when necessary.

This tournament will utilize the MTR and IPG as adopted by TopDeck and will generally be run at Competitive REL standards, with any exceptions or modifications determined by the judging staff.
