Point Structure
This cEDH tournament utinilzes the Japanese point wager system, this is a tournament scoring method where players start with a set amount of points (e.g., 1000) and wager a percentage (e.g., 7%) each round; the winner takes the pot, but draws cause all wagered points to be lost, encouraging decisive wins and making draws detrimental to everyone. Variations exist, like Hareruya's system where winners gain points lost by losers, or simpler win/loss point systems (4/2/1 for 1st/2nd/3rd), but the wager model promotes high-stakes gameplay and unique strategies for point accumulation.
Core Mechanics of the Point Wager System
Starting Points: Players begin with a fixed number, typically 1000.
Wager: Each round, players put a percentage (e.g., 4-7%) of their current points into a central pot.
Winning: The player who wins the pod claims all points in the pot.
Draws/No Winner: If no winner emerges (e.g., due to time or stalemate), all wagered points are lost, penalizing everyone.
