About this event

Hashtag presents our first seasonal cEDH series. It is a showdown to determine our best cEDH players, each entry gets you a chance to win a Revised Underground Sea. Join us May 23rd with an early open at 11a and a 12p sharp start time.

This is a competitive EDH event, run using the cEDH modifications to official Commander rules. Specific differences can be found at: https://learncedh.com/

In addition, because this is a Competitive REL event, we will be using the Magic Tournament Rules (MTR) and Infraction Procedure Guide (IPG), as well as the topdeck.gg Commander addendum found at: https://topdeck.gg/mtr-ipg-addendum. This clarifies some rules with multiplayer play, including round counts and end of game overtime procedures.

Round times for this event will be: Swiss - 80 minutes + 20 minutes overtime Semi-finals (if required) - 120 minutes + 20 minutes of overtime Finals - Untimed

Decklists are required, and must be submitted at: topdeck.gg event link. You are allowed to have up to 10 proxies, following the guidelines outlined below . Any questions about acceptability of a proxy can be brought up to the Head Judge prior to the event, but once the event starts, your proxies are your responsibility.

  1. Proxies must be indistinguishable from authentic Magic: The Gathering cards when shuffled into the library or in any other hidden zone. A player may ask the judge staff prior to the event to confirm it is indistinguishable when in the library. This does not guarantee in any way that they will stay that way through use.

  2. Proxies produced in such a way as to resemble an authentic Magic: The Gathering card including through wiping or erasing an existing card and fully replacing its art and text it must: If printed; be printed in color Be clear and readable

Include the following pieces of information: Name Mana Cost Type line (All types, supertypes, and subtypes) P/T if it's a creature Loyalty if its a Planeswalker

  1. Proxies must use art appropriate to the card. a. If the art used is art from a Magic: The Gathering card, that art must have been used for a printing of the card represented by the proxy. b. If the art is not from a Magic: The Gathering card, it must be appropriate for the card type, and not be reasonably confused for a different Magic: The Gathering card or a common card type. i. E.g. art primarily depicting a landscape should not be used to proxy a creature. Art depicting a flying creature should not be used to proxy a non-flying creature.

  2. Proxies must be clearly identifiable as a proxy. Proxies intended to be indistinguishable from authentic Magic: The Gathering cards will be regarded as Counterfeit Cards and will not be allowed.

  3. Alternatively, players may use an authentic Modal-Dual-Faced Card (MDFC) place holder card to represent the proxy in non-public zones. a. A player who chooses to do so must also have at least 1 copy of the proxied card that is either an authentic Magic: The Gathering card or otherwise complies with the earlier sections of this proxy guide. The "full version" of the card should be used whenever the card is on the battlefield. b. The MDFC proxy must have both the name and the mana cost of the proxied card legibly written. c. Proxies created under this section must use authentic Magic: The Gathering MDFC placeholder cards, not any other cards (authentic or otherwise) or inauthentic MDFC placeholder cards.

  4. Finally, players who are unwilling or unable to create proxies in line with the above policies may use a paper printout containing a photocopy printing of the authentic card placed directly in front of an authentic Magic: The Gathering card inside of a sleeve. a. A player using this method must ensure that the proxied cards are indistinguishable from any other cards in the shuffled library or in any other hidden zone. b. The photocopy printing must be in color. c. The authentic Magic: The Gathering card used as a 'backing card' must not be a card that could reasonably be played in your deck. i. E.g. a monored burn deck could reasonably use basic islands as their backer cards, but would not be allowed to use basic mountains, even if their decklist contained zero basic mountains.

  5. Players choosing to proxy any double-faced cards must ensure that their proxy, regardless of method used to create it, includes both the front and back sides of the dual-faced card.

  6. While the Hashtag Gaming Arena seeks to allow players to use the proxy policy to compete in this event, the head judge retains authority to use their unreviewable discretion to allow or disallow proxied cards for any reason, including for marked or identifiable cards, for offensive or non-inclusive imagery or text, or for any other reason. Players are advised to verify their proxies with judge staff if there are any questions regarding application of this policy to specific proxy cards.
