AZMS cEDH Qualifier #1 Primetime Gilbert

Arizona Magic Players, Welcome to the Arizona Magic Series 2025 Tournament Series announcement. Our goal this year will be to continue our commitment of providing the Arizona competitive Magic scene a community focused tournament series featuring the most popular eternal formats. We will provide another tournament series for both modern and legacy. We are also excited to announce that AZMS will be adding a tournament series for Competitive Commander (cEDH) for the first time in 2025. Here are a few details moving into 2025…AZMS cEDH Series cEDH is one of the Magic’s fastest growing competitive eternal formats in recent years. There has been an uptick in cEDH events in Arizona over the past few years. These cEDH events have seen a good amount of player attendance including myself. I have had the pleasure to meet some of the individuals who are responsible for building the Arizona cEDH community, Gemein Cho and Brandon Schramm. After some initial discussions between Gemein, Brandon and the AZMS team, we decided it would be a great opportunity to add cEDH to the AZMS to offer the same type of tournament series to cEDH players. The Arizona Magic Series would like to thank the continued support of Primetime Cards and Games as being the primary sponsor for the 2025 tournament series. Primetime Cards and Games Gilbert [1550 N Stonehenge Dr #102, Gilbert, AZ 85234] will be the flagship store for hosting most of the qualifiers and invitational champs for each format.

Entry Fee, Prizing and Point System At the request of the Magic players and the current AZMS team who are looking for more high-stakes eternal format tournaments, we will be increasing the base entry in 2025 to forty dollars ($40) per event. Thirty dollars ($30) will go to prizing (in store credit) to the host store. The remaining ten dollars ($10) of this will go to the respective series’ year end invitational champion prize support. The AZMS team decided for the cEDH portion of the series to increase the entry fee to $48 to have a dedicated judge for each qualifier. This way was we can ensure a high level competitive environment with appropriate staff that can handle situations involving multiple players. If we can maintain an average player count of 34 players per event, we can guarantee a 1k Qualifier for each format.

cEDH Qualifier tournament store credit prize support will be paid out as the following: Top 10: Will be used for any tournament that has 63 or lower in attendance. 1st: 30% 2-4: 10% 5-10: 6.66% Top 16: Will be used for any tournament that has 64 or higher in attendance. 1st: 25% 2-4: 8% 5-16: 4.25%

2025 cEDH Points System: 1st place gets the invite 2nd place will get 5 points if under 64 players 8 Points if there are 64+ players 3rd and 4th with get 2 and 5 respectively falling under the previous guidelines 5th-10th or 16th will get 1 point and 4 points respectively Then furthermore any player who competes and wins will receive a point If you show up you get a point (Bye’s are considered a win! You also get your point for playing) Draw don’t get jack though whomp whomp Tiebreakers will be as follows: If two or more players have the same series points total at the end of the last Qualifier event, the tie will be broken as follows in the following order: Total Series Points, based on Top 8 performances only Highest Finish at a Qualifier event Second Highest Finish at a Qualifier event Third Highest Finish at a Qualifier event, etc. (this will continue until the tie using all Qualifiers until the tie is broken) If ties to determine a Top 16 remain, a random selection will be conducted

All tournaments will begin registration at 10 am, which will allow for them to start at 11 am SHARP. The AZMS team will be managing event registration and deck submission thru Topdeck.gg with a Moxfield decklist.With eight cEDH qualifiers, there will be eight invites from the Qualifier tournaments and eight at-large point qualifiers that attend each Invitational Championship.
