Midwinter Mayhem - a Winter Solstice Weekend event for Sorcery: Contested Realm

Event Information

Midwinter Mayhem is coming! Sorcerers from around the country will gather for this chill event at Camp Childress near Joplin, MO! The Champion will need to be skilled at both Limited and Constructed formats. There will be a Winter Solstice bonfire, a 50/30 constructed main event, an AL/Beta sealed event, as well as other on-demand events.

Sign up for this event to receive access to the full weekend of events as well as on-camp lodging. The event will be held indoors, but participants are also welcome to explore the camp.

Rules

For Constructed events, players need an Avatar, 50 card spellbook, and 30 card Atlas as described in the Sorcery Rulebook.

For Sealed events, players will open 6 booster packs and build a 24 card spellbook and 12 card Atlas. Players can supplement their decks with any draft sites or the Spellslinger avatar.

For Draft events, players will draft from 3 booster packs. To draft, open a booster pack, select one card, and pass the remaining cards to the left. This is repeated until the player has selected 15 cards. For pack 2, pass to the right, and for pack 3 pass to the left.

There will be no ban list. Tear up Eric's Curiosa at your own expense! Blow a minion with Chaos Twister at your own peril!

Overall winner will be determined by the highest points total (for each event, first place gets 1 point per participant, second place gets one less point, etc.)

Prizing

All staff and participants will receive an exclusive event stamped card (Leyline Henge), and playmat (Leyline Henge by Jeff A. Menges)!

All registrants will receive a random item from a store kit (from a pool of 5 posters, 2 Mortality playmats, 2 Donnybrook Inn playmats, 3 foil bone rabbles, and 18 non-foil bone rabbles)

Other prizes are TBA, but will include a full Arthurian Legends store kit as well as stamped cards for top 4 and event winners, and signed prints by Jeff Menges.

Schedule

For those who'd like to arrive early, the event will start Thursday afternoon (12/19) with casual play, trading, and side drafts (Alpha, Beta+AL or all Beta/AL per consensus). Side drafts will fire as soon as they fill up.

Friday (12/20) we'll have more casual activities, with a sealed tournament (Beta+AL) in the afternoon as well as side drafts.

Saturday (12/21) we'll have the constructed tournament as well as side drafts. Saturday at sundown (winter solstice), we'll have a bonfire.

Sunday (12/22) we'll have casual play, trading, and side drafts.

Notes

An on-demand Alpha draft will be available on request.

Event entry includes lodging Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights on camp. Friday Sealed event will be $40 and the Solstice Constructed event will be $20.

The venue, Camp Childress, covers 180 acres and is just south of Joplin, MO. Attendees are free to roam around camp. There are multiple hotels within 15 minutes of camp, but the beds at the lodge are nice.

Meals will be available at $5 per meal. There are also multiple fast food options within 10-15 minutes and nicer resteraunts a bit further out.
