SnapCon 2024 Tournament Rules
Day 1 - Open Tournament
The open tournament on Friday, August 16 for SnapCon will be based on a “pod” system. The tournament is open to anyone attending SnapCon.
Pod System Overview
Each pod consists of 8 players. During SnapCon, any players who are interested in playing in a pod at any time can visit the Tournament area and register. Once there are 8 players who have signed up, the pod can start playing in a single elimination bracket. The winner of each pod will secure their spot in the Top 16 single elimination tournament on Day 2 (Saturday, August 17).
Players may play in as many pods as they would like on Day 1.
Streaming
Any match may be streamed. You may be asked to enter one of our stage areas to have your match featured live. This may be outside of the normal flow of the event so follow staff directions, as needed, to ensure a smooth experience for all parties.
Format
Single elimination for each pod All cards are allowed Decklists are Closed
Check In
Players can check in by registering at the Tournament area, and waiting for their pod to fill up with 8 players. Once the pod fills up, one of the tournament organizers will announce the matchups for each player. Players can begin when they are ready.
Gaming Devices
Players are required to supply their own gaming devices to participate in the tournament. The use of any 3rd party applications or overlays is strictly forbidden; pen and paper usage is encouraged instead.
Match Reporting
After you have completed a match, take a screenshot of the victory/defeat screen for your records in case there is a dispute. Report your results in Topdeck.gg or to GunnyT for manual input. Once you are done, the tournament organizer will let you know who your next opponent is. You may need to wait if they are still in a match.
Winning a Pod
If you win a pod, congratulations, you are qualified for the top 16 day 2 tournament! Report to the Tournament Organizer to have your Photo taken for the Stream Production. You will also need to supply the Tournament Staff with 2 decklists via links on snap.fan by 7:00pm on Friday, August 16th. Deck list instructions can be found below in the Day 2 section.
Disconnections
In the event a player is disconnected during a match, immediately take a screenshot and the players will call a tournament organizer over to their table. The players will then restart the match and forfeit as necessary to return to the state of the match before the disconnection happened (purposefully lose the amount of cubes and rounds that have been lost previously in the match for each player and restart the match that was in progress). In the event of a second disconnection by the same player, that player forfeits the bracket.
Cheating and Unsportsmanlike Conduct
Cheating by trying to find loopholes in any of these rules may result in disqualification and possible ban from future events.
Unsportsmanlike conduct and unbecoming behavior throughout the event (including on social media or any other public or semi-public space) may result in disqualification and possible ban from future events.
Dropping from an event
Players may drop from an event at any time. To do so please reach out to the tournament organizer. If a player is 10 min late to a match they will receive a match loss.
