Proxy Policy for Event Participation
We’re proud to support a 100% proxy-friendly environment, allowing players to enjoy the game while keeping it accessible and affordable. To ensure fair play and avoid confusion, all proxies used during the event need to follow these guidelines:
General Rules for Proxies
Printed and Recognizable
- Proxies should be printed in full color with artwork or designs that clearly represent the original card.
- Gold-bordered cards are welcome.
Clarity and Accuracy
- Every proxy must include key card details: name, mana cost, text, type(s), power and toughness, loyalty (if applicable), and colors.
- Text must be clear enough for anyone to read easily, so gameplay isn’t interrupted.
Reflect MTG Colors and Card Types
- Proxies should match the original card’s color(s) and type(s). For example, a Lightning Bolt should always appear red, and multicolored cards should reflect their proper combinations.
- Cards with special attributes or unique designs should align as closely as possible with the originals.
Consistency in the Deck
- Proxies must blend seamlessly with real cards when sleeved. It shouldn’t be possible to tell a proxy apart from a real card by feel, thickness, or how it fits in the sleeve.
Double-Faced Cards (MDFCs)
- If using MDFC proxies:
- Write or print the full card details, including name, mana cost, type, and rules text, on the placeholder card.
- Limit your deck to no more than 10 MDFC placeholders.
- Keep a printed reference of the card details available outside your deck for verification.
- If using MDFC proxies:
Printed vs. Hand-Written Cards
- All proxies must be printed. Hand-written proxies won’t be accepted, as they can be hard to read and disrupt gameplay.
- Sliding printed paper in front of a card is allowed, but you must make sure that it follows rule 4. We recommend double sleeving to help.
Counterfeit Cards
- Counterfeit cards are strictly forbidden. Proxies must clearly be unofficial representations.
