Event Details
Tournament information:
Event is from March 2nd - April 6th
Please read all information thoroughly failure to comply with certain requirements may cause you to be removed from the event.
Requirements - Available as a Patreon perk to all Snap Judgments Patrons starting at the $1 tier https://www.patreon.com/SnapJudgments. You must join the Snap Judgments League (SJL) discord https://discord.gg/kKgt92RVCk to schedule matches with your opponents. You must be willing to coordinate games with people spread across the world in different time zones. You must register for an account on Topdeck.gg (our match making software). Matches will be played one week at a time; therefore; there will be a commitment to play over a series of 4 to 5 weeks.
Registration - To register players will need to: sign up for the Snapjudgments Patreon, link their patreon & discord accounts, register with TopDeck.gg, and join the tournament on TopDeck.gg. Details and common questions can be found in the SJL Discord FAQ (link in the next paragraph). When registering for the TopDeck.gg make sure to: 1. use the same email address you did for Patreon, 2. Use the name you want visible publicly (you can’t change this after account creation), 3. Add your Discord username to your profile (how to in FAQ) so others can find you to schedule matches.
Snap Judgments Discord - All tournament information and player communication will run through the Snap Judgments League Discord https://discord.com/invite/kKgt92RVCk. There are channels set up for official announcements scheduling games and sharing game footage as well as some spaces for you to chat freely. You can reach the staff on any channel with @staff (your message) or by opening a ticket.
Prizes - Prize payout will be, at a minimum, one season pass to the winner of each 32 player pod with bigger bundles to 1st and 2nd places overall. The top prize will be the biggest bundle for the current season. Without datamines it will be difficult to be accurate but the prize should be comparable to the monthly $75-$100 bundles.
Pairings - Pairings will be managed in groups (pods) of 32. These pods will participate in 4 rounds of Swiss. This means you will be scheduled for a match all four weeks, win or lose. The 4 rounds of Swiss will be played one game per week over 4 consecutive weeks earning points for winning matches. The player with the most points at the end of the 4th round will then move on to the Season Champion single elimination bracket and compete against other pod winners. In the case of a tie for the most points in your pod these players will face off in a head to head challenge to find your victor. The winners from each pod will compete for the grand prize in a separate single elimination bracket.
All pairings will be automated through Topdeck.gg software and based upon your position throughout the event. Opponent’s win percentage will determine tie breakers and overall standings.
Deck Selection - You may change your deck from week to week and are not required to use the same deck throughout the tournament. Topdeck.gg has a deck submission feature that can be ignored for this event.
Rules:
Snap Judgments League is a Patreon perk and will be open to Patrons of all tier levels. You must be an active Snap Judgments Patron upon sign up. I.e to sign up for the March league you will need to be active in February.
Participants will use the SJL Discord to coordinate their matches. This will be the only method you and your opponents have to find each other. Please make sure your Discord information is correct.
Round one will be posted starting on Saturday March 2nd no later than 10:00am EST. Round one will last until Friday March 8th at 11:59pm EST. Each consecutive Swiss round will follow this schedule with all league times following Eastern Standard Time (EST). Players competing in the single elimination games will be asked to complete their games in a shorter time span with the goal to have the entire event completed during the 5th week of the league.
Once pairings are posted, on Topdeck.gg, either match player will make a post on the SJL Discord in the match-scheduling forum channel. To do this create a post there, tag them and let them know what time zone you're in. Important: Make sure that you tag them in the body of the post otherwise they will not get notified. Once both players have agreed upon a time (verify time zones) players will be using the Friendly Battle mode to play games (how to in FAQ). These will be best of one conquest style matches.
Players will have one week to finish their match and record their results. Topdeck.gg has a self-reporting feature that will be utilized as our primary tracking source (how to in FAQ). The SJL Discord will be used to verify any contested results between players. It is HIGHLY encouraged that you take a screenshot of the game when it is over this will be the best way to verify results. Please contact league staff immediately if you have any disputed results.
If one player records their match results on Topdeck.gg and the other player does not, league staff will make an attempt to verify the results between players. If this player is unresponsive the recording player’s results will be used.
Match wins award 5 points. Match losses award 0 points. Draws award 1 point. Players may intentionally draw their matches (consider this if you and your opponent cannot coordinate your match).
In the case of a player not fulfilling their responsibilities to coordinate a match the player who was active in scheduling will be the winner. Life happens please be honest with us and each other. If you have to reschedule due to a personal issue please communicate thoroughly with your opponent. If you are unable to fulfill your duties as a player at the agreed upon time and unable to reschedule the match your opponent will be declared the winner. The league staff will be notified of any issues between players. If both players cannot coordinate a match but are actively trying to schedule the match it will be a draw.
If a player disconnects from Marvel Snap during a match the player who did not disconnect will be the victor. The disconnected player may request a rematch but please be advised that it is 100% up to the non-disconnected player. This is to avoid intentional disconnection before losing.
In the case of a player being given a bye during a round they will receive the same amount of points as a player winning their match.
Players may drop from the tournament at any time. To do so please reach out to the league staff. If a player does not respond to their opponent, does not play a match, and cannot be contacted before the end of a round they will be dropped from the event for the following round.
Cheating by trying to find loopholes in any of these rules may result in disqualification and possible ban from future leagues.
Unsportsmanlike conduct and unbecoming behavior throughout the event (including on the server or any other public or semi-public SJL and non-SJL associated space) may result in disqualification and possible ban from future leagues.
GunnyT’s comments: My intention is that this is a fun tournament for the players by the players. Don’t be shitty to each other. Please think first about the other player and how your interactions may affect their experience. The staff members are here for you to help find solutions to any of your problems. Unfortunately some people suck. Don’t be one of those people. Let’s all make this the coolest freaking event ever and make this an event we continually look forward to participating in!
