Event Information

The holiday season is upon us! Join us for our white elephant gift exchange, where you create a deck to exchange as a gift to another player! This time now with a tournament. The entry to the tournament is your white elephant deck!

How are your deck building and piloting skills? It will be put to the test! Player meeting starts at 9:30 AM MDT. White elephant exchange starts at 10:00 AM MDT, with Round 1 starting shortly afterwards. Please arrive at least 30 minutes early to minimize undue delay!

Rules

This event is a budget event that uses real MTG cards that are legal in the Commander format. The budget will be $50 for this event. **TCGPlayer market pricing of the cheapest printing will be used to determine price. Basic lands count as $0. Due to fluctuations in the market, the price is locked in when your decklist is submitted. Check with the TOs so they can vouch for you when your deck is submitted.

If you do not have a deck to exchange you will not be allowed to play.

Playtest Proxy Cards Will Not be Allowed

Since this is a gift exchange, we require real cards to be used. Preconstructed decks will also not be allowed To assist your pilot, we recommend a quick verbal or written primer prior to round 1.

For some reference here are commanders we have seen in the year's past:

  • Magda, Brazen Outlaw
  • Tivit
  • Etali, Primal Conqueror
  • Niv-Mizzet (Both Parun and Visionary)
  • Ellivere
  • Winota
  • Yuriko
  • Malcolm Vial
  • Urza, Lord High Artificer

We will have a channel in our discord for discussion. Feel free to discuss there.

Tournament Points

This will use the standard 5, 1, and 0 point system, with an additional twist. **Both the deck builder and the pilot will receive points for the deck that wins, draws, or loses. ** Don't expect to do well if you deliberately build a poor deck.
