Riftbound's 2v2 format is finally going online. Grab a teammate and compete in the first-ever online 2v2 Riftbound tournament, hosted by The Magma Chamber and played on TCG Arena.

Event Details

• Date & time: Sunday, August 9 at 6:00 PM Helsinki time (EEST). That's 5:00 PM CEST, 4:00 PM UK, 11:00 AM ET, 8:00 AM PT.
• Format: 2v2 teams, best of 1, special domain restriction (see below)
• Structure: 5 rounds of Swiss, then cut to a top 8 single-elimination bracket
• Entry fee: $15 per team (non-refundable, non-transferable)
• Prize pool: $500 guaranteed
• Cap: 32 teams (64 players)
• Rounds: 60 minutes each (finals untimed)
• Set legality: All sets through Vendetta (the most recent set) are legal
• Platform: Matches played on TCG Arena, pairings and standings on Topdeck.gg, communication in The Magma Chamber Discord

Plan for a long one: with 5 rounds of Swiss plus a top 8 bracket, teams that go the distance will be playing into the early morning hours in Europe (roughly 2:00 AM+ Helsinki for the finals). The start time favors our players across the Atlantic, so EU teams, stock up on coffee and energy drinks accordingly.

Special Ruleset: Four Unique Domains

By community vote, this event uses a modified version of the standard 2v2 rules: your team's two legends must cover four unique domains between them, with no overlap. For example, Master Yi and Yasuo can't be on the same team, since both share the Calm domain. Build accordingly!

Prizing

3rd and 4th place are determined by Swiss seeding among the semifinal losers (higher seed takes 3rd). Every team that makes the top 8 profits on their entry.

Decklists

• Decklists must be submitted through Topdeck.gg before the start of the tournament. No submission, no pairing.
• Decklists will be published. Bring your best brew knowing the world will see it.

How Matches Work

1. Pairings go up on Topdeck.gg at the start of each round.
2. You and your teammate join your assigned match room in The Magma Chamber Discord and hop into voice chat with the opposing team.
3. One player creates the game on TCG Arena and shares the match code in voice/chat.
4. Play your match, then report the result on Topdeck.

End-of-Round Procedures

Swiss rounds: When time is called, the active player finishes their turn, then 3 additional player turns are played (individual player turns, not full turn cycles). The team with the most points at the end of those turns wins. A team must lead by at least 2 points to win; otherwise the match is a draw.

Quarterfinals and semifinals (sudden death timing): Same procedure, but no draws. The team with the most points after the 3 additional turns wins. If the score is tied, play continues and the next point scored wins the match.

Finals: Untimed. Play it out, champs are decided on the board.

Requirements

By registering, you agree to the following:

• Discord membership: All players must be members of The Magma Chamber Discord server (https://discord.gg/vgVAAwGPN9). Tournament announcements, judge calls, and match rooms all happen there.
• Voice chat: 2v2 is a communication format. All players join voice chat with their teammate and opponents for their matches.
• Feature matches: Selected matches each round will be streamed. If your team is chosen, you agree to play your match as the featured game. It's your shot at the spotlight!
• Open decklists: As noted above, all decklists will be public.

Judges & Support

Judges will be available throughout the event in The Magma Chamber Discord. If an issue comes up mid-match, pause the game and ping the judge channel.
