Overtime and Finals Timing
During Swiss, once time is called play will continue until the end of the turn. However, there will also be a hard 20 minute cap on overtime. If a winner cannot be decided in that time the match result will be considered a draw.
Additionally, each finals round will have a hard cap of 2.5 hours. After which time if a winner cannot be decided, the win will be awarded to the player in seat 1.
We understand that these rule changes may not be ideal for some but these measures have been put in place for logistical reasons and for the consideration of event staff.
Event Cap
26 players (24 seated with 2 byes)
This is a strict cap as space in the store is limited.
Prizes
Excluding operational costs ($1 per person which should total to ~$34), all of ticketing sales will be contributing to the prize pool.
The final prize pool will depend on total player numbers.
Prizing will be awarded to those who make top cut and will be awarded as cash!
Giveaways
Beikt.au
This event has giveaways that are sweetened by beikt.au.
They have graciously offered a box of 6 of their finest cookies as a give away for our duck race
beikt.au is a local Melbourne brand that makes premium baked goods like cookies, slices and cakes.
Please support this brand if you can. The tournament venue (Plenty of Games) stocks their cookies on a rotation. If you are looking for a sugar hit, they have got you covered!

Judging
As this is a smaller scale event and to keep costs low we will run this using one of the MCL staff members as acting judge.
Play-test policy
This event will be play-test friendly.
You will need to use "test cards" that are printed in colour and utilize recognizable art. These printouts can be slipped in front of another card however the printout must not be seen from the top of the sleeve.
If you have a mixed deck (with proxies and non proxies), to maintain consistent thickness, non proxied cards and proxied cards printed on real card stock should be double sleeved.
If you are using high quality play-test cards printed on card stock, this must be distinguishable from a real magic card such that it cannot be considered as a counterfeit. The MCL does not condone counterfeits in anyway.
