Blight Club cEDH League with Irish Magic Discord

Welcome to Season 1 of the Blight Club: Éire Chapter cEDH league in collaboration with the Irish Magic Discord!

We are pleased to announce that despite this being a FREE-TO-PLAY league, we have received prizing support through partnerships with Blight Club as well as through generous donations from the community.

We are looking to kick off the starting round on Monday March the 3rd (03/03/2025) which will allow plenty of time for deckbuilding, proxying, and playtesting. We will be using the official EDH banlist and only released cards to be used (I.e. no spoilers).

Players will be allowed to change commanders in between rounds, however prior to pairings it is asked that submissions be made for the decklist you intend on playing for data tracking as well as in fairness to others.There will be an announcement prior to pairings/rounds and players will have 24 hours to submit a decklist to a Mod of the league. This prevents players from changing lists/commanders to suit their pod/current matchup.

Pods will have 2 weeks per round to schedule a time amongst themselves to play their match via Spelltable. Voice chat will be used in the Irish Magic Discord for league play. Results are to be reported to Taaka097 or another Moderator by the players on upon the conclusion of the match. In the event of a result dispute, please contact a moderator of the league ASAP.

4 rounds of Swiss will be played, followed by a cut to top4/top10 players depending on participation numbers. (In the event of a top 10 cut, the players in 1st and 2nd will receive a bye, while players 3-10 will be divided into two pods of four for an un-timed playoff to determine the final round.)

League matches will be played in 80 minute rounds that will take place via SpellTable. Time begins once the first game action (Mulligan/or start of Turn 1) is taken and should be tracked by 1, if not all of the players in the pod. Once time is reached in a match, the current player will finish their turn and the game will end in a draw. 5 points for a win, 1 point for a draw, and 0 points for a loss. This updated point system will encourage players to remain in the event and will help players who draw stay in contention.

Seat order will be in the same order as what is listed in your pod on TopDeck pairings for the round.

In the event of a dispute or judges call, timer will be paused to allow players to talk amongst themselves to find a resolution or reach out to a judge, judges resource, or Moderator. During this time players should leave their hands on the table and refrain from using stoppage time to plan any game actions. (Please DO NOT abuse stoppage time).

Cards/Hand/Deck on table or within view at all times. Players will be asked to Pile Cut after shuffling to maintain honesty and integrity (piles of 1-2-3 and rearranging the pile at the discretion of the player across the table from you).

In the event of a 3 person pod, players will be encouraged to play out the round. Byes will be given to players in the result of 1 or 2 unpaired players and byes will be 5 points.

Players who do not show up for an agreed upon time will be subject to warnings/penalization, unless their absence is justified or within reason. Several offenses may result in DQ from the event (PLEASE RESPECT EACH OTHERS TIME). Make an attempt to reschedule your match in the event this happens.

There will be a 0 tolerance policy for cheating and/or toxic behavior which will be subject to immediate DQ and banning from the league; we are here to have fun and grow the Irish cEDH community! If you witness something nefarious, offensive, or questionable in your pod it is your responsibility to stop the match timer and say something to a Judge or a Admin (We are trying to maintain a safe space here for all, so absolutely no retaliatory speech or actions are to be made). Absolutely no outside interference or use of outside resources DURING a match. In the event of spectating a league match, please mute yourself on the Discord to avoid any interruptions. TREAT OTHERS AS YOU WOULD LIKE TO BE TREATED

Proxying/Playtest cards are 100% permitted so long as they are legible and recognizable art. Season 1 will allow for paper printed proxies in order to cater to newer players (Please use colored ink with LEGIBLE art if at all possible), however in future seasons, actual cardstock playtest/proxies will be required.

Season 1 WAS strictly for bragging rights, however this has changed due to partnerships and donations made to the league. Playmats will be awarded to top 4 in addition to additional prizing (TBA) thanks to Blight Club! Stay tuned as more donations and prizing could potentially be announced as participation numbers, donations, and partnerships continue to grow! In the future and assuming we have good numbers for Season 2, there may be a chance for a qualifier for the EU Championships this November (TBD).

We will be holding a pre-league meeting (TBD) to review the rules once they are all set in stone just so everyone is on the same page.
