Canadian Highlander at The Quest is a charity event organized by Tap for Hope, a volunteer-ran nonprofit organization, in partnership with the Portlander Community
Battle within a fierce community driven format!
Proxies must be in color and use recognizable art
Win cash prizing that scales with turnout!

This event will follow the traditional Canadian Highlander Banlist & Point System
Players will perform a 'points check' after Round 1 (Each player verifies their opponents deck has 10 or fewer points)

This event will be ran and organized by the Portlander community!
Stay at the Hyatt Regency at the Oregon Convention Center—our event venue and the premier lodging option just across the river from downtown Portland. A limited room block is available for a short time; if it fills, we’ll request additional rooms!
JoyRx resources multiple initiatives within the pediatric oncology space. The Quest will be specifically supporting their Mentorship program (https://www.joyrx.org/mentorship) - profit from 'The Quest' (after covering COGS, etc) will be philanthropically donated directly to JoyRx. Tap for Hope is a volunteer-ran organization and does not pay or compensate our board of Directors and organization's volunteers (except with dopamine, happiness, and fulfilled purpose).
Tap for Hope is a recognized 501c3 organization with the IRS. It can accept in-kind donations of Magic: the Gathering cards up to $5k USD in value (before appraisal is required for donation).
If you would like to donate Magic: the Gathering cards, you will be able to do so at our event. Donations will be collected at the Hyatt Regency during the event. If you would like to donate outside of the event, you can reach outdirectly to: [email protected]. Tap for Hope is able to provide you with the proper documentation regarding donations for your tax needs!
This event will be proxy friendly. Colour / paper proxies are allowed! (For The Quest's cEDH proxy policy, please see those events FAQs specifically!)
Each round will be 50 minutes. Once time is reached, the active player finishes their turn and this will be considered "Turn 0". The game will end after Turn 5 of extra turns is completed.
This event will be ran at Regular REL.
After X rounds of Swiss, the Top 8 players via Swiss standings will play-off starting with Quarter Finals pairings by seed.
The event prizing will be in cash, scaling with attendance. 40% of entry fees to Tap for Hope ($10), 60% of entry fees to prize pool ($15). There will be a base cash prize of $200!
1st - $100 + 40%
2nd - $50 + 20%
3rd/4th - $25 + 10%
5th-8th - $0 + 5%
For example, at 24 players:
1st = $100 + 0.4*(24*15) = $244
2nd = $50 + 0.2*(24*15) = $122
etc
