Event Information
Day 2 of the North American Old School Cup during Eternal Weekend features a fun new Sealed Deck format -- A Quest for Ice! This Old School Limited format has each player building a deck from a 60-card Ice Age Starter from 1995 + three booster packs of Homelands!
But that's not all... In order to a make your quest to craft a competitive 40-card deck from this pool of jank and nostalgia more viable -- yet even more chaotic -- we are throwing in some proxy**** Spectral Chaos playtest Cards! That's right, with the blessing of Barry "Bit" Reich -- the creator of this**** unreleased "Garfield Games"-era Old School Magic expansion -- we are throwing in a few playable Spectral Chaos spells to each player to spice up their deck.
Rules & Deck Construction
Players will be given sealed 60 card Ice Age Starter Decks (equivalent to roughly three booster packs + 2 extra uncommons and basic lands) = 3x 8-card Homeland boosters to build a 40 card deck withe the entire unused portion of the pool as your sideboard. Players are free to alter or rebuild decks between rounds. We expect to play up to four Swiss rounds, with no Cut to Top 8. A curated selection of Spectral Chaos cards will be drafted by participants to help flesh out their decks. We will also provide basic lands and select snow lands.
Prizes in ancient cardboard will be paid out to winning players, everbody goes home with a community signed card, and a very special out-of-print, Wintry, cloth Khalsa Brain Games Spellground playmat will be awarded to our Champion.
The 2026 North American Old School Cup playmat by special guest and original Magic Artist, Ken Meyer, Jr. is spookily appropriate for All Hallow's weekend -- featuring a certain wicked beast guarding a full moon -- and wielding the weapons of Freddy, Jason, Michael, and Ash.
