cEDH Tournament Information, Procedure, Rules and Timings

The tournament system is the Swiss system, also known as "Suisse." In this system, a win gives 5 points, a draw gives 1 point, and a loss gives 0 points. The pods for each round are random and have nothing to do with the standings. Participants are encouraged not to discuss their scores. The round time is 80 minutes. If the game is not finished after 80 minutes, the active turn is played out. If the active turn takes longer than 10 minutes, the game ends in a draw.

After 5 Swiss rounds, there will be a top cut of the best 16 participants. In this, 4 pods are formed; the higher a participant finished in the Swiss rounds, the better their seat for the Top 16 match.

For the Top 16 match, the rule is "Winner takes it all." In the case of a "stalemate," players are allowed to restart the game if the entire table agrees. When restarting the match, the remaining time of the first match continues.

The time limit for the Top 16 matches is also 80 minutes. The same rules for overtime apply as in the Swiss rounds; in the case of a draw, the highest-placed participant wins.

The same rules apply to the finals ("Top 4") as to the Top 16 match.

The tournament will be played according to the official Magic: The Gathering tournament rules, and we will also use the "Competitive REL MTR/IPG Addendum." Competitive REL will be used. More information can be found at GitHub and Wizards.

When purchasing a ticket, a link to a Moxfield deck list must be provided later via a form we send vis mail. The deck linked to this link will be frozen on Friday evening, November 8th, 2024, at 11:59 PM. This is the deck list you must use for the tournament. The deck can be freely modified before this deadline, but it must be the deck linked in the link. This is so that we can print badges with a QR code containing the deck list and the judges can have a printed list of the decks. It must be a link to a list on Moxfield. Other deck lists will not be accepted.

Proxy Policy and Guideline

At our Commander Invasion cEDH Tournament, we want to make access as easy as possible for every interested player. Therefore, we will generally allow full proxy decks brought by the participants. However, since we want to ensure that the tournament runs fairly and smoothly, we set the framework for the use of the proxies in the tournament.

The organizer will not provide any playtest cards. Everyone is responsible for their own deck! All proxies played in the tournament must comply with the following rules. This applies to all cards in your deck. Non-compliance can lead to warnings or exclusion from the tournament in individual cases. The Head Judge has the final word regarding all on-site proxy compliance decisions.

The rules are expanded by last years experience, questions and feedback by players.

  • All proxies may only represent official WotC artwork printed in an official paper print run.
  • (Not existing) full-art versions of official artworks are allowed.
  • Alternated frames are allowed, as long as they are not covering text or other important card elements.
  • Full-Proxy decks are allowed.
  • All proxies must be printed in color. Make sure that the printed color matches that of the original cards.
  • You're welcome to have original cards and proxies in a deck, as long as they don't differ in paper thickness in your library.
  • The proxies must have the same dimensions as an original card and fit into their sleeves accordingly.
  • Proxies ordered via e.g. mpcfill.com are also allowed. They must also comply with all proxy rules.
  • Please ensure that your proxies are printed in a resolution that can be easily read by the other players and judges.
  • All needed tokens for your deck need to be provided by each player. Rewritable tokens are also allowed.
