Event Information

The Mana Vault is excited to announce The Ice Cube 2, the latest event in our series of 64-player Cube Draft Tournament Extravaganzas! We’re featuring 8 baller cubes, awarding over $2000 in prizing, and best of all crowning the next Ice Cube Champion!!!

The Ice Cube 2 will feature two very special guests among the competitors: Bob Maher Jr., the Pro Tour Hall of Famer and face of Dark Confidant, as well as Sam Black, limited specialist and our 2024 Ice Cube Champion!!

In the wake of Milwaukee Cube Legend Jonathan Brostoff's passing, we have decided that proceeds from this event will benefit The Friendship Circle of Wisconsin, a nonprofit chosen by Brostoff’s family that works to end isolation and build friendships for children and adults with disabilities and those struggling with mental health challenges.

Entry Fee: $75

Player Cap: 64 players (56 spots remaining)

Structure: 2 Swiss Drafts, followed by Top 8 Draft

• 9:30 AM: First Draft Begins
• 1:30 PM: Lunch Break (provided)
• 2:30 PM: Second Draft Begins
• 6:30 PM: Top 8 & Open Play
• 12:00 AM: Event Ends

1. Magic Online Vintage Cube – High-powered classics curated by Alex Elendt
2. 100 Ornithopters – The hit of CubeCon 2024 whose only creatures are 100 copies of Ornithopter! Designed by Andy Mangold of the Lucky Paper Podcast, curated by Bobby Hill
3. ETB Cube – Jonathan Brostoff’s legacy design, in which all creatures have an enter-the-battlefield effect! Updated by Adam Haggerty and Brian Kowal
4. Champion’s Choice: Sultai Grindfest – A three-color masterpiece from 2024 Ice Cube Champ Sam Black featuring a variety of slow card advantage options and a wide range of synergies
5. Bourbon Cube – Madison’s polished Legacy-style cube by Noah Mickel
6. Simic Cube – Pure blue-green synergy designed by Sylvia See
7. Mono Red Cube – High-octane drafts of red cards and artifacts designed by The Mana Vault Cube Community
8. Mono Blue Cube – Blue aggro, blue combo, blue control - find all of Magic in a cube dedicated to everyone's favorite color, curated by Levi Wilson

• Cube assignments are first-come, first-served
• Final cube lists will be published the first week of January!
• Top 8 Drafters will play the Old Border Foil Cube, an ode to Premodern-era retro frame foils, designed by Jeff Green

Prizing

1st Place - Ice Cube Champion Trophy, Free Entry to our next Cube Tournament, and $200 store credit

2nd Place - $150 Store Credit

3rd - 4th Place - $75 Store Credit

5th - 8th Place - $50 Store Credit

Additional extra special custom-made event prizes are awarded to all who make Top 8!

In the Swiss rounds, players will be awarded a play booster per win!

Over $200 in various other prizes will be given out as special bonuses to random players throughout the event; among these may be t-shirts, playmats, singles, and other shop goodies.

Supporting a Noble Cause

Proceeds from The Ice Cube 2 will benefit The Friendship Circle of Wisconsin, in honor of Jonathan Brostoff, a beloved figure in Milwaukee’s cube community who took his own life on Nov. 4, 2024. Among The Friendship Circle's initiatives is its 41 safeTALK Suicide Prevention Trainings—one for each year of Brostoff’s life.

Rules and Policies

This event will be held at a Regular Rules Enforcement Level to maintain fair play. Play Area Rules:

• Food and drinks prohibited at play tables
• Handle and shuffle cards with care at all times
• Cards must remain at tables unless cleared with a judge Refund Policy: Full refunds available until January 16, 11:59 PM.
