The SeaToSkyMTG group will be hosting a Magic The Gathering cEDH (competitive Commander-format) Tournament at the Squamish Welcome Centre/HotSpot located at 38027/38029 Cleveland Ave. on Saturday, June 8th from 5pm-10pm. Pre-registration for this event is required (see below for details). This is event is open to everyone (not just Squamish locals) so feel free to invite friends from outside our community to attend; the more the merrier!
- The tournament entry fee will be $5 to help cover rental costs. This can be paid in cash at the event or via Interac E-Transfer to [email protected] (no security password required). Debit/credit is not available.
- A maximum of 24 players will be permitted to register for the tournament.
- Doors open at 5pm, tournament starts at 6pm sharp. The tournament will run from 6pm-10pm (or until we're done).
- There is limited parking (3 spots) at the rear of the building; it is suggested you park on Cleveland Ave or in one of larger parking lots nearby. You can enter via the rear of the building via the doors behind the storage bin painted with birds (recommended) or via the front entrance on Cleveland through the bookstore area (the door sign will show "Closed" after 5pm but will be unlocked).
- We'll be playing 3 Swiss-style rounds (60 minutes each) with the top 4 players at the end of round 3 moving on to a 4th round final table to decide the rankings.
- All participants will be randomly assigned initial seating in 4-person pods at the start of the event. In subsequent rounds, pods will be generated based on accumulated stats. If a pod of 4 can't be formed, the remaining participants will receive a bye (automatic win) into the next round.
- 5 points will be awarded to the winner of a game. If the round timer expires and a game isn't complete, the current player completes their turn and, if a winner still can't be declared, all remaining players in the game will be given 1 point for a draw.
- Players will not be permitted to concede; games must be played to conclusion.
- Unlimited proxy cards are permitted. If you decide to use proxy cards, please make sure they are complete with all original card details, legible and in the dimensions of a standard Magic card.
- Sideboarding is not permitted.
- No other outside restrictions are placed on your deck construction; as long as it adheres to current Commander format guidelines, it's acceptable. Bring your infinite combos, your 0-drop mana rocks...it's all good!
- Your deck must be sleeved for the event. Sleeves will be available for purchase at the event, if required.
- You must pre-register for this event using the Register button at the top of this page. Please don't leave this to the last minute as we use this info to properly prepare for the event. By registering, you are committing to come to the event; please don't register until you are sure you can attend, as this will potentially prevent others from registering. Registration requires you to have a topdeck.gg account; if you don't have an account, you can create one for free via the Register link. After registering, this event will appear in the My Events section of your topdeck.gg profile.
- After registering for the event, you are required to submit a decklist link from moxfield.com that details the single Commander-format deck you intend to use in the tournament. To do this, find this event in your topdeck.gg "My Events" section, then click the Submit Decklist button on the event and paste in the URL to your Moxfield-based deck. Your decklist info will be kept private until the event completes. If you do not supply a decklist before 5pm on game day, you will not be permitted to participate. You may update the contents of your decklist until 5pm on the day of the event, at which point your decklist will be locked and further changes will not be permitted.
- Free pizza will be available to participants! (BYOB, non-alcoholic).
- Note this is not an official WotC sanctioned event: we're working on this for the future.
- Prizes will be awarded to the top 4 finishers as well as a participation prize for all others. We'll also have some random door prizes up for grabs.
1st prize: Mana Crypt (borderless foil, Double Masters box topper version)
2nd-4th prizes: The One Ring (borderless foil scene-art)
All other places receive: Borderless alt-art version of Mystic Remora (from Dominaria Remastered)
