About this event

Cedh $1k Tournament Structure and Rules Structure Each round, players will be randomly split into pods of 3-4 players as evenly as possible from the total number of players in the event with previous pod configurations being considered and repeat pods being avoided wherever possible. Seating order will be randomly determined as well as starting player (player 1). Based on the total players, there will be at least 3 rounds. Winning will be worth 5 points, second place will be 3 points, third place will be worth 2 point and last place will be worth 1 point. Draws will be worth 1 point. At the end of normal rounds there will be a top cut based on total players. 12 or fewer players will cut to Top 4 with 13,14, and 15 players not being possible. 16 or more players will have a cut to top 8. Top Cut will be a series of 2 games with final placement being top cut match points, followed by regular rounds match points, followed by most, highest placements in all games, followed by Opponent’s Total Points (OTP). [a 1st, 3rd, 2nd in regular and 3rd 2nd in top will win over 2nd, 3rd 1st in regular and 3rd 4th in top] Any player with a draw will be placed below a player without a draw if all other factors are equal. Entry/Prizing Entry for the event is $50, and the payout includes a cash prize, therefore entry cannot be paid with Store Credit or Event Tokens. The payouts will be based on total event entries and final placement up to a total payout of $1000 (one thousand dollars) in total prizes. Top 8 Payouts 1. 30% 2. 20% 3. 15% 4. 10% 5. 8% 6. 7% 7. 5% 8. 5% Top 4 Payouts 1. 40% 2. 30% 3. 20% 4. 10% Top Cut Pod Pairings The top 8 Players will be put into pods based on their normal round placement for round 1 as follows: 1, 8, 2, 7 and 3, 6, 5, 4. Starting player will be determined randomly as before. Game 2 will have the 4 highest Top cut point players in Pod 1 and the lowest Top cut point players in Pod 2. Seating order and turn order will be determined randomly. Final rankings will be based on the criteria in Structure. Losing and Forfeiting If all players are eliminated at once, then players lose in turn order. A player may forfeit the game on their turn if no game actions have been taken. If a player forfeits at any other time they will have been considered to have done so at the last known game state before their preceding actions were taken up to a judge’s discretion such that their actions do not negatively affect the outcome of the game. Timer We will be using the Command Zone app to track individual player time. Each player will have a 20-minute timer. Time will tick for a player while they have priority. When a player passes priority, they will declare such and tap the center of the screen. Time can only be paused in this way briefly before the next player must take priority. Time can only ever be paused for an extended period once a judge is called. Table discussions will occur on some players’ time, presumably the player who initiated the discussion, but this is not a valid reason for pausing time. Warnings regarding this aspect of the event will be treated with some leniency but consistent or blatant disregard for the timer can lead to game losses or even disqualification from the event. If a player’s clock time runs to zero, they lose the game. Judge Calls The Event Judge () will handle all the initial judge calls, handle the tournament pairing and results. Any decision may be appealed to the Head Judge (Tim L.) where a discussion may be had. Decisions will be made swiftly, however, regarding the speed of completion of the event. If there are other game issues such as an emergency, restroom, phone call or similar please notify the judge so they can adjust time, game state or tournament. As a note, excess non-intentional hand reveals will get warnings and then game losses. Proxy Rules Proxy Cards will be allowed if they are not discernable as such, as part of the deck and can be easily comprehended “at a glance.” “Playtest” versions are allowed but should be kept to a minimum.
