This event allows 15 proxies. The guidelines on proxies are as follows:

A proxy, for the purposes of NYSE Open VIII, is a legal Magic: the Gathering card that has had certain information either blanked out (i.e. with acetone), or has had certain information blacked out (with black Sharpie marker).

Please strongly consider using MDFC helper cards as your proxies! They are among the best options available!

All information of the proxied card must be recorded, and easily legible. For example, a Mox Sapphire would need to reflect its mana cost (zero), card type (artifact), and text (tap to add one blue mana to your mana pool). Black Sharpie marker is excellent for this. Pen is not, and would not be accepted, as it is not easily legible at a distance.

Some cards are better than others for proxies. A Revised Island is an excellent choice for a proxy, as the light background of the card makes it far easier to read than a newer, darker printing. It should always be clear, to you, your opponent, and the judge staff, what your proxies are. Using 15 copies of the same card for proxies will not be accepted, as it will create confusion. If you needed to proxy a playset of Moxen, proxying a Mox on a land of its corresponding type would be a great idea.

International Edition and Collector's Edition cards are wonderful proxies, and are acceptable for this event. Printouts, either those that have been glued to Magic cards, or those that are inserted into sleeves, are marked cards, and will not be legal proxies for this event. The thickness of the card has been altered, and this will make the card marked for all intents and purposes. Fake Magic cards of any kind will not be legal proxies for this event.

Vintage is an exceptionally expensive format, and the purpose of a proxy is to lower the barrier of entry a little bit, so that players who are passionate about the format are able to play in an event that they would otherwise not have been able to play in. Proxies should not be used as a form of gamesmanship to try and confuse opponents, and gain an advantage in the game itself.

Finally, there is no reason why your proxies cannot be beautiful. Magic is a beautiful game, and taking pride in your proxies is a great thing.
