August 13, 2025The TopDeck Championship Series Returns for 2026
Thanks to your feedback, we're proud to announce that the TopDeck Championship Series will be returning for 2026.
With a new season comes some new adjustments, and so we will be taking a look at what's new and different for this season!
To get basic information out of the way:
- The top 60 players plus all auto-qualified players will play in the Invitational event.
- There will be a Mid-Season Showdown around March with all the currently qualified players.
- The season will run from September 13th, 2025 to mid-August 2026.
- The cutoff for points will be July 19th, 2026.
- Joining the series will open up in the last week of August
Tournament Tiers
The tiers remain the same for this season. Diamond events are now an upgrade for everyone past Platinum events. Additionally, the attendance requirements for Gold and Platinum have been slightly reduced after we analyzed the data for this season.
Bronze
These are essentially partnered locals. If these locals hit certain attendance we can upgrade them to Silver. Limited to 4 a month per organizer. If you have special circumstances this cap can be extended.
Attendance minimum: 16+ players
Silver
If a Bronze event is able to achieve 30 or more players, it is upgraded to silver.
Attendance minimum: 30+ players
Gold
These are partnered events. Attendance is required to hit 50+ to be considered gold events. Think of these as regionals where the best of these players will rep that region.
Attendance minimum: 50+ players
Platinum
Gold events can now be upgraded to Platinum events (gold partners only). These are even larger regionals where players can accrue points. Requires the gold partner to use TopDeck.gg payment processing to be eligible for upgrade.
Attendance minimum: 100+ players
Diamond
Diamond events are now an additional tier that can be reached after Platinum. These events are the biggest of the big events, and players can hope to earn the most points from these. Requires the gold partner to use TopDeck.gg payment processing to be eligible for upgrade.
Additionally, if the winners of these events will auto-qualify for the Invitational. If the event is 400+ players, the top 4 will auto-qualify for the Invitational.
Attendance minimum: 250+ players
Points
Earning points remains the same as the previous season.
You will earn points per placement in each tier, variable by tier.
You will only get points from:
- Your best five Bronze placements
- Your best three Silver placement
- Your best three Gold placements
- Your best three Platinum placements
- Your best three Diamond placements
Additional Point Allocation
Once you have reached the maximum number of placements for any given tier (e.g., five for Bronze, three for Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Diamond), points from subsequent placements in that tier will be allocated to the next lower tier. If you have also maxed out that lower tier, the points will continue to cascade downwards to the next available tier.
Point Breakdown
The amount of points awarded per tier have been adjusted. In addition to only allowing organizers to hold 4 Bronze events a month, Bronze points have been reduced.
This is due to the tier not living up to our expectations for it. The tier was originally meant for getting some points from your weekly locals, but turned into point farming contests that certain organizers would put on (colloquially called "Bronzeathons") to ensure players from their region would make the cut on the leaderboard.
Additionally, Platinum points have been increased as to encourage travel, along with reducing the attendance requirement for them.

Qualifying
- Direct Qualification: Winners of Diamond events immediately qualify for the invitational. For certain events, this applies to the top 4 as well.
- Point Qualification: The top 60 players on the leaderboard who have not auto-qualified will qualify for the invitational.
If a point qualified player declines their invite, it will go to the next person on the leaderboard.
Mid-Season Showdown
The 2026 season features a new event in the middle of the season called the Mid-Season Showdown.
This event will take place in the middle of the season around March, and will give players something to strive for early.
Players who are currently auto-qualified or top 60 on the leaderboard will play in the Mid-Season Showdown to showcase their skills. More information to come later.
Standardized Ruleset
There will be a standardized ruleset that must be followed by all partners. The only difference from previous years is you can run tournaments under whatever point structures you want, though we recommend following the Multiplayer MTR since that is what both the Mid-Season Showdown and the TopDeck Invitational will run under.
- All events are posted and run through TopDeck.gg. Payment Processing is recommended but not required.
- If you want your event to be upgraded to Platinum/Diamond, you MUST use TopDeck.gg payment processing.
- No manual entry will be allowed due to the data collection/aggregation
- Players will be required to enter events with their TopDeck.gg accounts so points can be properly tracked.
- Shops will be brought in at a fixed yearly cost.
- Partner shops/communities are the only ones able to hold Gold/Platinum/Diamond events
- TopDeck.gg will share leaderboard data as well as any other information with our partners. These include player points, recent events, and procedural updates and bans based on inappropriate or behavior resulting in a rules infraction
- Shops can run events with any point and round standard that they want. However, we recommend following the Multiplayer MTR.
- TopDeck.gg will respect the boundaries of the shop (your shop, your rules) as it applies to prizing, proxies, etc.
