Changes to Decklist Submission - Powered by Scrollrack

Today we’re unveiling Scrollrack, TopDeck.gg’s brand-new, in-house deck-validation engine, and with it a completely rebuilt deck-submission flow. This is a soon-to-be open source tool for all TCG builders to help validate decklists for various games and formats.

What Is Scrollrack?

Scrollrack is our proprietary service that brings all deck checks directly into TopDeck.gg. Instead of pasting links elsewhere, you’ll submit your decks on TopDeck.gg and get instant, precise validation against official format rules and banned/restricted lists.

Why We Built It

  • End Moxfield Reliance Until now, MTG players pasted Moxfield URLs and we outsourced validation. Scrollrack brings every check in-house, reducing third-party load and giving us full control over the experience.
  • Simplify Organizer Workflows No more external locking decklists or viewing them on another website. Organizers see, review, and approve decks right in the tournament dashboard.
  • Prepare for Every TCG A unified engine makes it easy to add new games and formats, so TopDeck.gg can grow with the community.

How It Works

  1. MTG Players
    • Import via Moxfield URL, or paste a plain-text deck list.
    • Standard, Modern, Legacy, Commander, Pauper, Vintage, and most other formats via Moxfield import or plain-text lists
  2. Yu-Gi-Oh! Players
    • Paste a text list or upload a .ydk file.
    • Edison & Goat formats are currently supported
  3. Organizers
    • View all submitted decks directly in the dashboard.
    • Deck checks are easier than ever.

Future plans:

  • Deck Data Lives on TopDeck.gg: all your lists and validation history are stored alongside your tournaments.
  • Future Features: as we add more games, expect tournament analytics, win-rate tracking, meta reporting, and more.

API Updates

Our tournaments-v2 endpoint will now return a decklist object whenever possible, complete with card list, game, format, and import source (if applicable). We’re rolling out updated API documentation later this week, so stay tuned for full details on how to consume these new fields.

Calling All Publishers

We’re actively expanding Scrollrack to support every trading-card game. If you publish a TCG and want your title added, let’s make it happen: email us at [email protected].

Feedback & Bug Reports

Scrollrack and the new submission flow go live today. If you encounter missing formats, incorrect validations, or any odd behavior, please let us know immediately at [email protected], or in our [Discord](https://discord.gg/RjS3mDf3wt). Your feedback will help us tighten rules and roll out new features faster.

Questions About the Update?

Q: Will my existing decklists work?
A: Yes, all existing decklists remain accessible and functional.

Q: What happens if Scrollrack finds errors in my deck?
A: You'll receive detailed error messages explaining exactly what needs to be fixed.

Q: Is Moxfield import still available for all Magic formats?
A: Yes, almost all formats are supported.

Q: How is the API changing?
A: Wherever we return a decklist, you may see instead a decklist object with card list, game, format, and import attribution if applicable. Stay tuned for more information.
